Meet Richard Dedicoat, the Headteacher of grace cook Primary School and Nursery

Hello! My name is Richard Dedicoat, and I’m the Headteacher for Grace Cook Primary School and Nursery that opened in September 2022. I’ve been involved in education for over 25 years, worked in 4 different local authorities and have led schools in a variety of contexts from small rural church schools to large urban primaries.

My role

As the Headteacher of Grace Cook Primary School and Nursery, I will work hard to make sure that the children are desperate to come to school every day and learn new and exciting things, becoming the best versions of themselves. I will help to create a safe and supportive school which encourages children and staff to take risks with their own learning and challenge themselves to reach their full potential. I will also work closely with parents and the wider community, supporting them as well as finding out how they can contribute to growing our school.

What I enjoy

Sharing books and stories. Running, watching sport, especially cricket and football. Visiting new places with my family and two dogs, Domino and Dash. Being outside on a beach, in a forest, within the mountains or at a festival enjoying live music. Learning new things.

What I would like to get better at

Cooking - I have a passion for food and trying new recipes. Music - I’d like to improve my guitar playing.

People describe me as

A person who is able to listen to and value everyone’s ideas and opinions with the ability to grow talent.  Being organised, being patient, being kind and being funny! I look forward to meeting you in the coming months should you choose Grace Cook for your children.
